Country and Hip Hop/ Rap Music
A big topic and reading we discussed in class last week had to do with accidental racist. We discussed it in relation to the songs we listened to in class. The country songs we listened to we listened to if we could sing along with it my the end, talking about love, relevance, or whether it tells a story. To me it was easy to tell what the songs were talking about. The rap songs or hip hop music I would have to really pay attention or listen to a few times to really get to know what was truly being said. A lot of what was being talked about in hip hop music is guns, gangs, fighting, and pants hanging down. Many people frame rap or hip hop artist as these types of people as possible bad people when we are just framing them as what they talk about in their songs. Until we really personally know someone we have no right to judge them. To me I think it is alright to raise a point in a song because it makes people interested and gets them thinking.
