Ads

Jean Kilbourne from the video "Killing Us Softly" talked about the perception people, especially young teenagers, are getting by the ads we see on T.V. The ad above is advertising cologne for men. It is telling us that if men wear that cologne then they can get women just like the one in the ad. Men first notice a women's look before actually knowing her and if wearing this cologne will get them a beautiful girl they are going to buy it. Many advertisements are meant to attract what men and women want because if it attracts and gives them what they want then their making a sale.

  1. I agree with this blog, if men and women think they can get what they want by simply buying a product then men and women will not think twice about buying. If you could get whatever you want by buying one thing, everyone would buy the product.

  2. I liked how you said the ad is trying to tell men that they'll get the girl if they wear that cologne. Cologne and perfume ads are notorious for their overtly sexual tones to the point where you almost have to wonder what's being sold in the actual ad. It's funny and sad at the same time.

  3. The position that the two people are in is a bit weird. Think about it--how would two people have to stand in order to make a photo like this?
