In the reading "This Is Emo" by Chuck Klosterman he talks about how everyone has a perspective or list of things they want the person they love to have and in all reality he knows that not everything is going to be met on everyones list so we all will never be truly in love. If everything is not met on the list then they are not our perfect match. Everyone has exspectations and they want them met. If they are not met then at some point they are unhappy.
People see love stories all the time on television. One I can really remember growing up was Titanic. The love story between Jack and Rose made me dream that one day I would have that same love story or something simular to it. The story where one would sacrifice their life for the one they love. we see love stories everywhere and we all want a love story. Klosterman is saying that in reality we all have our mind set on having this love story and perfect match when we will all be disapointed in the end because the movies are not real.
The ever perfect Fairy tale, hell I named my kids after my favorite! Sleeping Beauty, my oldest is Aurora, and my middle is Briar Rose; but I never waited for prince Phillip. Titanic is the perfect analogy for marriage your husband is supposed to be willing to lye down his life for you, just as you are supposed to for him. There is nothing I would not do to defend my him, protect him, or even agree with him in public, even if he is dead wrong. Just as Leo's character forsake himself for Kate in the end, giving her whatever she was floating on. But we do have a running joke, when all hell breaks loose in the house and kids are going everywhere, "this is not the fairy tale I was expecting", he will say, "me neither." You are correct real everyday love has bad days and good days, some days you want to smother each other, others you don not care to look at each other. That is reality! There is only one movie that talks about real marriage and it's ups and downs. It talks of expectations of marriage, and the pressure of not living up to them, and ironically is stars Leo and Kate. It is called Revolutionary Road.
